Ten Songs to Get You Through the Winter

What do you get when you mix a polar vortex and a pandemic? I’m actually not sure because I haven’t left my bed in 2 weeks. Maybe that is what you get - bed rest isolation. For those of you who want the temperature to heat up and the COVID cases to cool down, this playlist will prepare you for - or at least relieve you of - some of your current isolation.

1. Summertime Sadness by Lana Del Rey

So clearly, Lana has never spent winter in Minnesota. For me, there is no such thing as sadness in summer! Regardless, the song still earns its rightful spot on my ‘Getting Through Winter’ playlist. After all, doesn’t the music just feel warm?

2. Incredible by Future

Picture this: COVID is over, it’s the first day over 55 degrees, you finally sent your winter boots back home with your mom, AND it's warm enough to walk to Sal’s. Life is good. Actually, life is Incredible, just like this soundtrack. Personally, I plan on listening to this song every day until those days become a reality.

3. None of Your Love by Lil Tjay

This song is the one you throw on aux to reminisce on your 10-year addiction to Justin Bieber. Trust me though, the whole party loves this one, and the guys will be completely oblivious to the fact they just belted out the same lyrics to Baby by the Biebs. Perfect summer prep.

4. Feels by Calvin Harris

Every Winter, you reach that point where you forget that summer actually ever existed. Did I just imagine it? Did I really spend over $400 on swimsuits? Maybe it never happened. But when you hear this song, all those memories come rushing back, and all of a sudden, bikini season doesn’t seem so far away…

5. Island by SosaJay (feat. Caspa)

Something we all undeniably look forward to this time of year is Spring Break. Getting the whole squad together, spending the last of your money on the cheapest Airbnb in the city, and making memories that will last forever. This is the song to play when your first frozen drink is served and you’re posted up at the beach (actually or mentally).

6. Reminds Me of You by Juice WRLD and The Kid LAROI

Swap out the “You'' and change it to “Summer” - now read that again. … that’s all. Stay strong and Rest in Peace, Juice Wrld.

7. Acai Bowls by Dominic Fike

Have you ever had an açai bowl? It is basically summer in a bowl. Fun fact: I know someone who was Dominic Fike’s cellmate. Can you imagine getting through prison with an açai bowl fetish? Okay, that’s not actually what the song is about, but I don’t think they serve those in prison. Anyways, the transition in this song excites me for the transition into spring…  Listen and hear for yourself.

8. Midsummer Madness by 88rising, Joji, Rich Brain, & AUGUST 08

Let's make it ‘Midwinter Madness’ because I seriously can’t take this anymore. Like Joji said, fuck the rules. That’s for sure going to be the vibe for summer 2021. Let’s run it.

9. 2kizzy Flow by 2KBABY

This is just one of those songs that really brings the vibes. I really don’t know what the song is about, but I can get down to the beat. I have a feeling this will be a popular song of the summer - so you might as well memorize those lyrics in advance. Or it might flop, and you will never hear it again. I’m not a fortune teller!

10. Moonwalking in Calabasas by DDG (feat. Blueface)

First off, there are a lot of remixes to this song, but the Blueface remix by far surpasses the rest. Moonwalking in Calabasas is a song that sounds like it should have been dropped in the summer. It's almost like DDG messed up the release date. But then again that’s not uncommon. Hey Polo G, my breakup was actually last month; Martin & Gina was a little late!

Can you really get through Winter with just 10 songs? Luckily for you, this playlist has a bonus track. Enjoy!

Make Her Say by Kid Cudi (feat. Kanye West & Common)

This is one of my favorites to get down to in summer. I had to throw it in because of  Kanye rhyming the words: scoliosis, comatose, Moses, osmosis, toasts’, AND coasts’ while having it make sense plus sound good. You Lady Gaga fans will love this one too. And by Lady Gaga fans, I mean everyone
