The 2025 BAFTA Awards: Grandest Wins, Attendees, Performances and more!

The 2025 British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), was held in London this February. Often labeled as the English equivalent to the United States Oscars or Emmy, this year was no different than others – star-studded with global celebrities.
Here is a round up of the winners, award snubs, outfits and performances of the night.
Popularly dubbed as the “best film of the year,” even mentioned on former president Barack Obama’s annual “Favorite Movies of 2024” list, Conclave amassed a great quantity of BAFTA’s, including the Best Film award. This mystery thriller follows Cardinal Lawrence, who discusses the hidden secrets of the Roman Catholic during the selection of a new pope. In addition to the Best Film award, Conclave won Adapted Screenplay, Editing and Outstanding British Film.
Another standout film awarded at the BAFTA’s was Dune: Part Two. After the ' first film series’ success and cult following in 2021, this successor film was similarly adored. This time, Paul Atreides joins forces with the Fremen to get revenge on the people who destroyed his family while also protecting the universe’s future.
The Dune series is most notably complemented for its visual and sound effects, showing off the vast landscapes and chants. Their awards at the BAFTA’s are a clear reflection of this, winning both the Sound and Special Visual Effects awards.
One of the most popular musical films of 2024 was Wicked, notably starring pop singer Ariana Grande and actress Cynthia Erivo. This film is an adaptation of the popular Broadway musical of the same name, which is a spin-off of the original film The Wizard of Oz, focusing solely on the stories of Glinda the good witch and the wicked witch of the west, Elphaba. At the BAFTAs, the film won Production Design and Costume Design.
Among the broad number of celebrities, a few of their gowns and attire stood out amongst the sea of attendees.
Demi Moore, star of the film The Substance, wore a sequin-studded Alexander McQueen gown formed in enigmatic design, a unique, yet lovely choice to wear on the red carpet.
Another outstanding attire was Ariana Grande’s Louis Vuitton gown, which stood out, with its poofy pink skirt that contrasts wonderfully with the fitted black V-neck top.
Another beautiful gown was Selena Gomez’s, a star of the musical film Emilia Pérez, an intricate and captivating gown. She took a twist at a simple black velvet gown, layering it with a silver dress, adorned with Tiffany and Co. dangling jewels.
Undoubtedly, the standout performance at the BAFTAs was English pop group “Take That’s” song "Greatest Day", that was featured in the Romantic Comedy Anora, which won the Casting and Leading Actress awards.
