Run Fast Take Chances: How To Get Into Running

When it comes to exercise, running often has a negative and intimidating connotation that scares away countless individuals from enduring the demands of this physical activity. Yes, I acknowledge that running can be a boring, time-consuming, and exhausting exercise; however, there can be a lot more to this physical activity than you might think. With the right mindset, anyone can challenge themselves to take on running, especially with these tips that put you on a path towards life-changing success. Who knows, maybe you’ll get hooked and start running a few miles a week or go all the way to complete a marathon!

Choose the Right Path

If you’re going to take up running, you might as well do it in an environment that you love. Nobody likes staring at a wall while struggling to keep up with the eternal movement of a treadmill flowing beneath your shoes. So, why not choose an authentic and outdoor route that brings you along a journey of comfort and enjoyment? Lucky for us, our campus is surrounded by beautiful landscapes that are perfect for the occasional run. Stone Arch Bridge isn’t too far away to get that little bit of exercise and to take in the special views of Minneapolis. You should also check out the trails along the river by Superblock, Van Cleve park, or even Lake of the Isles for some awesome running terrain.

Find a Running Buddy

Starting this journey with a partner is often the key to running progress. I recognize that running sometimes drags on, but this monotonous exercise goes by a lot quicker when there’s someone matching your strides. Whether you’re talking about your weekend plans or listening to the sounds of your feet stomping the ground, having a running confidant may just excite you to keep going forward.

Craft the Perfect Playlist

One crucial method that helps a run go by a lot quicker is filling your ears with a playlist that motivates you like none other. This personalized concept can help you focus on something other than the physical strain that you’re putting your body through. Crafting a playlist with some music that makes you feel unstoppable and on top of the world will push you to get out there and run. Check out Golden Magazine’s Spotify for some great playlists that may match the mood of your run! And if music still isn’t enough to get you moving, try your favorite podcast to pass the time.

Dress to Impress (Yourself)

One thing that’ll make yourself feel even better about getting some exercise is if you look great while doing it. Finding the perfect workout gear that makes you feel confident is a simple way to motivate you to get out there and work hard. There are countless brands and places to find the right pieces for your run. Whether it’s the popular and well-trusted Lululemon running shorts, your favorite Nike sports bra, or even a thrifted and worn-in tee, stores are full of great running attire. Don’t forget to complete your outfit with a comfortable, reliable, and fun pair of shoes!
