The coziest coffee locations in Minneapolis: A guide
Looking for a new coffee spot?
Here are three of my favorites to visit during the cold season ahead.
To me there is nothing better than sitting at a coffee shop with a warm cup of herbal tea watching the weather change. With temperatures slowly dropping, I wanted to share some local spots to visit for this upcoming winter season.
The Briar
Located in Logan Park in Northeast Minneapolis, The Briar offers activities day to night.
Cozy up with a few friends in one of their flower decorated booths and get some homework done. Or go at night and belly-up to the bar to try some of their food and one of their curated cocktails.
When I visited this place last week I noticed amongst the warm-colored walls were shelves of vintage records.
There was also a tiny older-styled television playing an older movie.
As I sat at the little round table in the corner with my freshly brewed camomile tea, I admired the quietness of The Briar. To one end, I noticed the classic computer work shenanigans, however I also witnessed two guests at a booth going through a Tarot card reading.
The Briar is a multi-faceted business! It’s a place I am itching to drag my friends to and grab some hummus and a glass of the Oscar's Quevedo; a white wine blend from Portugal.
Mojo Coffee Gallery
Mojo Coffee Gallery is maximalism at its finest. Another Northeast location, Mojo presents an industrial take on coffee.
Forget boring minimalism, and embrace the chaos. Here at Mojo, one can find a stage with a drum set, shelves filled with handmade mugs or antiques galore hung from the ceiling.
Aside from the outstanding effort in decor, this space offers a full menu of coffee and food. Food is served daily from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and features a selection of breakfast items, making it a great breakfast spot.
I had my eye on the blueberry muffin in the pastry case, so of course I had to buy it. All I can say is, that sugar rim on the top… well, my mouth is watering again.
Mojo is attached to an art gallery, another added bonus! So go ahead and take the opportunity to check out some amazing art on the way to the bathroom.
Fragmnt
Want to grab a coffee while exploring some of the history of Minneapolis? Well, Fragmnt is that perfect spot. Take a walk down the cobblestone road and explore what Main Street has to offer.
While they have a few locations here in Minnesota, Main Street, just in front of the Mississippi River has to be my favorite. Not only do they have great views, but their space is tucked away in the Riverplace building at Main Exposition Hall.
Themes of a beautiful-toned green fill the stairwells and open space. And aside from the rays of sunlight that fill the windows of the building, Fragmnt offers warm fireplaces to lounge around.
This is the place where I tried my first matcha, and let me say, it hit the spot on that snowy day.
This spot is small, but mighty. With many options for lounging, Fragmnt is a great spot to sit by the fire and watch the snow fall.
Embrace the comfort!
Grab some homework, a nice book or a friend and explore these awesome locations. They aren’t far from campus and offer a different shade of comfy in Minneapolis. You never know what you might find.
