A Local Coffee Shop Review

As a Minneapolis native and former barista, I have gone to my fair share of local coffee shops. There is no shortage of coffee shops in Minneapolis, so I’m here to tell you about some hidden gems you may not know about.

If you like records and coffee, then I would suggest you go to Disco Death. It is the perfect combination of a record store and a coffee shop. You can surf through their selection of music all while you wait for your coffee. Disco Death has a cool vibe to it. I recommend getting the Prince of Darkness, which has raspberry, honey and chocolate.

If you’re ever by Loring Park, be sure to stop by Fawkes Alley Coffee. Fawkes Alley has a European feel to it. It is tucked away in an alley among other local shops. In the warmer months, Fawkes Alley hosts local musicians to play outside in the alley. Fawkes Alley also supports the Futsal Society. The Futsal Society is a free, community-based alternative to club soccer for kids in Minneapolis. Fawkes Alley supports the Futsal Society by hiring their youth and donating the sales made on their locally roasted espresso, which is a must-try.

If you’re a fan of fun flavors, I would highly recommend heading to The Last Drop Cafe in North Loop. The Last Drop is one of many vendors at Graze: a Minneapolis food collective and food hall. The Last Drop is known for their coffee flights, which feature four specialty flavors and change seasonally. The Last Drop has a fun and lively atmosphere. I would highly recommend trying their seasonal coffee flight.

If you’re someone who loves tea, check out Wesley Andrews. Wesley Andrews is a minimalist coffee shop that also serves tea and snacks. They have many unique signature drinks, such as their Kyoto drip coffee, ube latte, and my personal favorite: matcha Thai tea. Matcha Thai tea is a one-of-a-kind drink mixed with oat milk, matcha and Thai tea.

If you’re looking for a place to grab coffee downtown, look no further than Cafe Ceres. Cafe Ceres is on the first floor of an office building, so you will see corporate workers grabbing their daily coffee. It is very upscale and suave. If you go, you have to try their dulce de leche latte. They also have other Minneapolis locations in Linden Hills and Armatage.
