Cozy Coffee Nooks
As college students, I think we’ve all needed a cup of joe once or twice to get us through the week. Fortunately, Minneapolis is a hub for some of the best cafes. Even if you aren’t a huge fan of coffee, these are still great spots to meet up with friends and study for the day. I will never say no to Starbucks, but sometimes it’s exciting to try something new while supporting a local business. I’m definitely not a coffee connoisseur, but I have stumbled upon a few great places with fun menus and cozy atmospheres. With final projects and exams approaching, I urge you to try some of these out! Sometimes productivity sparks when you disrupt your normal routine.
FIVE WATT COFFEE
What really drew me to this place was the unique drink options. They have four locations within the city, and one is within a few miles from campus. Their coffee is inspired by crafted cocktails with espresso influence. My personal favorite off the menu is The Big Easy - Cold Press, Chicory + Nutmeg Syrup, Black Walnut Bitters, Cream. It tastes like Christmas in a cup. The staff is incredibly friendly, and I can assure you that you’ll have a drink experience you cannot get anywhere else.
FAIRGROUNDS COFFEE AND TEA
Fairgrounds is located in NorthLoop, which is relatively close to the U. If you’re looking for something a little bit more upbeat, I definitely would recommend this cafe. The business originated in Chicago, and the interior is super creative and carnival-influenced. Not only do they have great coffee, but they also offer super delicious breakfast and lunch. Some menu items include: avocado toast, hand-crafted breakfast burritos and sandwiches, hearty salads, acaí bowls, and bagels with cream cheese.
SPYHOUSE
This one might be a little bit basic, but I haven’t found any coffee place as cozy as Spyhouse. I definitely go here for the rustic atmosphere. Although it’s usually fairly busy, the four locations are super spacious and welcoming. Most do come to work on their laptops, so you’ll have company that will keep you motivated! They also play great acoustic music that isn’t too distracting.
These are just a few ideas, but there are so many to explore within the Twin Cities area! As a form of self care, get out of the house and treat yourself to a nice cup of coffee. Maybe you’ll come across your new favorite study space.
