Podcast recommendations for your moods

Podcasts are perfect for a commute, a mindless task at work, or winding down after a long day. There’s such a wide variety of podcasts to choose from at this point that it can be challenging to find the ones you love. We’ve compiled a list of some of our favorites for different moods and occasions.

When you need some motivation:

Make Your Damn Bed is a short, daily podcast that focuses on helping you improve your relationships with yourself and others. Each episode is 3 to 5 minutes long and is meant to be played while you make your bed or perform another daily routine to help you develop long-lasting habits.

When you’re feeling curious:

Radiolab is one of the most popular podcasts on streaming services, known for its innovative sound design. Listen for investigative journalism pieces on topics ranging from wonder drugs to friendships between baboons.

When you’re in the mood for love (or heartbreak):

Modern Love is based on a popular New York Times column where readers send in essays detailing their romantic lives. Sit back and relax as different celebrities and journalists read the stories and follow up with the essayists.

When you want to buff up your trivia knowledge:

Not Past It picks a historical event from each week and explores its influences up to the present day - finding unlikely connections and insights between seemingly unrelated topics.

When you need to start adulting (but still feel like a kid):

Financial Feminist features Tori Dunlap, a finance expert who reached her retirement savings goal at the age of 27 through her own savings method. She starts with the basics and helps you work your way up to becoming a personal finance expert.

When you want something local:

Real College Podcast is produced by Radio K and focuses on local events, trends, and culture happening in the Twin Cities area.

By All Means shares interviews of local founders and entrepreneurs of businesses ranging from Izzy’s Ice Cream to Crisp & Green.

Heavyweight is a nationally recognized, Minneapolis-based podcast that explores listeners’ life events that they regret and how to resolve them. It’s definitely not always for easy listening, but it’s intriguing and introspective.
